Neuro N6 Regulatory Compliance
Compliance status, applicable standards and design provisions of the Neuro N6 board.
The Neuro N6 is a development board intended for evaluation and product development. This page records the compliance provisions built into the board and its firmware, and the status of formal assessment. Statements here are updated as testing completes.
Scope
The Neuro N6 board itself contains no intentional radio transmitter. Radio functions are provided by the u-blox MAYA-W476 module on the Neuro Vision OV5640-W and TFT-W carriers; their compliance is recorded on those product pages.
Electromagnetic compatibility
The board and carriers have been assessed for electromagnetic compatibility by an accredited test house under Ohm Lab test reference OHM-EMC-N6-WC-001. The firmware used for radiated emission measurements is the Arduino core with Tools > Debug console set to Off, which provides a clean command console for the test house's control scripts. Results and the declaration of conformity are published on completion of the assessment.
Firmware provisions
Two provisions in the Arduino core exist for compliance testing and must remain in their default state in any firmware that leaves the bench:
| Provision | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Tools > RF test mode | Disabled | When enabled, compiles the WiFi driver's manufacturing test path so a test house can key the radio at a fixed frequency and power. Production firmware carries no way to key the radio outside normal operation |
| 5 GHz support | Compiled out | The WiFi driver is built with CONFIG_5GHz_SUPPORT=0, confining the module to the 2.4 GHz band and removing the 5 GHz regulatory regime (EN 301 893, FCC 15.407 and DFS) from scope |
Safety
The board operates from 5 V USB or a single cell lithium ion or lithium polymer battery and contains no hazardous voltages. The on-board charger is a 500 mA single cell linear charger with termination. The datasheet warns against connecting two 5 V supplies at once, against any battery other than a rechargeable 3.7 V single cell, and notes that the charger may become hot during charging. Batteries are supplied and used in accordance with their manufacturer's instructions.
Environmental
The board is RoHS compliant in its component selection. As electronic equipment it is disposed of through electrical and electronic equipment recycling in accordance with local regulations, not in household waste.
Markings
CE and UKCA marking of the board and carriers follows completion of the assessment above. The declaration of conformity, when issued, will be linked from Downloads.
Design notes relevant to compliance
- All header logic is 3.3 V and the analog inputs are limited to 1.8 V; exceeding these limits damages the microcontroller.
- The board-to-board connectors carry high speed signals and are mated only with the board unpowered.
- The firmware's independent watchdog cannot be disabled and guards against a system-wide hang.
